Croagh Junction Update – October 2017
Limerick City and County Council in consultation with Transport Infrastructure Ireland are working to progress the Foynes to Limerick Road Improvement Scheme.
A provisional 80m wide corridor and provisional junction layouts for the entire scheme were identified in June 2017.
The Rathkeale to Adare Junction Study indicated a slightly positive benefit from the provision of a Junction. Two potential junction locations, Option A (West of Croagh) and Option B (East of Croagh) were identified following the decision to provide an additional junction between Rathkeale and Adare.
Following consultation with interested parties and assessment, Option B (East of Croagh) has been selected as the preferred option.
The drawing below showing the preferred option for Croagh Junction is now available for viewing at the Mid West National Road Design Office and available for download here.
The Provisional 80m Corridor and Provisional Junction Locations are indicative and may be subject to change during the design development process. Further work will now proceed on the design development including the identification of all lands necessary to construct this scheme, including lands required for a service area, access roads, drainage requirements, severed lands and other ancillary works. Work will also continue on the preparation of the statutory documents such as the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Motorway Order.
Please note that this update relates only to the decision on Croagh Junction. Further updates on the Foynes to Limerick Road Improvement Scheme will follow. For further details of the overall scheme please refer to the Design Update – June 2017 by clicking here.
